It never ceases to amaze me that (some) men continue to act in a violent and contemptuous way towards women. This French man (I didn’t look up his name because he’s not important enough to take that much of my time or energy), the head of the IMF, could have had any woman he wanted. He’s attractive, educated, successful and at the top of his game yet he destroyed it all by <allegedly> committing sexual assault against a hotel maid.
My first reaction was along the lines of “geez, men and their dicks, when will they ever learn”. But this isn’t one of those cases, this isn’t a man who just made a bad choice due to horniness or drunkenness or some other excuse. He assaulted a stranger, not once but twice, according to the news report.
I use the words allegedly and according to, because he has yet to be convicted of a crime. But this is not the first charge of sexual violence to be lodged against him.
It saddens me that violence against women continues in our enlightened, civilized society. Will it never end? And, what are we to do to help make a difference here? Sure, his political career is ruined as is his reputation. But a woman’s life has been ruined in ways he can never imagine. And, I’m betting he doesn’t give a shit.
It’s too simple to call it a crying shame.
